The Bible: Still Life
It seems like everywhere you look these days, someone is pushing a new philosophy -- one that won't offend anyone, exclude anyone, or make any absolute claims about anything.
According to some, all paths lead to heaven, and there are no eternal consequences for our actions. Others believe in Karma (the idea that what goes around comes around).
Unfortunately, these beliefs are not just floating around on the pages of an obscure alternative book or in a few clips of a late-night television show; they are in our face. There are popular sitcoms based on these beliefs and best selling books making these false claims. They are inescapable but not unconquerable.
As Christians, we have to be careful what we read, listen to, and watch on TV, for Satan's deception through false teaching is ever so subtle and cunning, even able to capture the mind of a believer if he is not grounded in Scripture.

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them,
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

We must keep ourselves grounded in the Word of God, for it is our Weapon against the philosophy of the day.

How true that is, Mimi. Just reminds me how much we need to pray for our loved ones and even our country.
Cathy,
Yes we have to keep ourselves immersed in the Scriptures if we are to have the weapons necessary to fight Satan.. as he enters our every day lives..
thanks for stopping by,
Mimi
We do need to be in prayer for each other...Blessings
So true - there is much deception and our enemy is sneaky and comes in a back window while you have the front door barricaded.

I do so appreciate you ladies stopping by... and I am encouraged by your comments
thanks for the visit

What *really* disturbs me is not the false teachings of the world. Though they are bad, those pushing the false teachings are lost. What is really upsetting is the amount of false teaching being passed off as "Christian" *inside* the churches today.
Good post, Mom. We must be ever mindful of how things line up with the Bible!
Jodi,
you hit the nail on the head... it is the careless teaching in the Churches that is doing the most damage today!!
We need to be on guard against it...
thanks for the comment
Oh, yes, you are so right! We should be careful what we read, see and what we listen to.
This Bible must be very old!
A treasure to have! Oh, yes, I mean, all Bibles are treasures.
But yours seems to be very old.
Thank you for sharing all this good words with us!
I am glad I found your blog.
Have a nice evening!
We do need to keep God's Word in our hearts. It is so beautiful and so wonderful and so full of life giving truth.
This is so true Mimi, it just goes to show you how important it is to read God's word everyday. Thanks for the reminder.
Very good post, Mimi. So very true. God's Word is all that we can trust and we need to be reminded often. Thanks for this reminder and I love the picture.
What a great post and so true. We need to use discernment and be very watchful and careful. Praise God He gives us His armor to protect us!
Hugs,Sharon
