Don't Bother Me

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. (Rev 3:20)

Knock at the Door by Tobey
Knock at the Door

As a young man, C. S. Lewis abandoned his faith in God and declared his belief in no religion, saying they were all created by man. Later, after acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God and his Savior, Lewis wrote of that time in his book Surprised By Joy.

"No word in my vocabulary expressed deeper hatred than the word Interference. But Christianity placed at the center what then seemed to me a transcendental Interferer. There was no region even in the innermost depth of one's soul which one could surround with a barbed wire fence and guard with a notice 'No Admittance'. And that was what I wanted: some area, however small, of which I could say to all other beings, 'This is my business and mine only.'"

Every person has the right to say to God, "Leave me along. Don't bother me."

But it is the Lord's right to pursue us with His mercy.

To the self-satisfied church at Laodicea, the risen Christ said,

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me" (Revelation 3:20)

By His grace, the Lord keeps knocking, ready to fill our lives with His love

Good Morning Mimi,
This is such a beautiful post and so very true. We should always be aware of Jesus' knocking at our door and we should always let him in. The table in the picture reminds me of The Last Supper. I know they didn't have the napkins and all the other things then, but it being long like that reminds me of it. "THANK YOU" for sharing a great post with us today. I did enjoy it. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Yes, we must open the door and invite Him in. And He will dine with us! What a choice blessing.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for leaving your sweet comments. We had a wonderful time at the beach with my dear mother. She loved every minute of the weekend away. Please stop by again soon.

Amen, beautiful post as ever Mimi. I love C.S. Lewis, I don't always agree with his writing but he certainly had a way with words and obviously loved God and wanted to know him better. I've read a few of his books and loved them.

Jesus loves us so much doesn't He?

Hugs.

It is so beautiful that God created us to come to him at our own free will. He is not pushy or demanding, just loving and patient. We are so blessed by our Father in Heaven.

Happy Valentine's day!

Hugs, Sharon
