Strong Silence

But He held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto Him, "Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said , "I am"; (Mark 14:61-62a KJV)
Calvary by Octavio Ocampo
Calvary

Throughout the crowded closing hours of His life, Jesus did and said nothing that could in any way be construed as a withdrawal or watering-down of the astounding claims to kingship and deity He had made.

Although He did not disallow the claim that He was King, He hastened to make clear that His kingdom was not of this world, but a spiritual one (John 18:36). Nor did He deny that He was "the Christ, the Son of the Blessed" (Mark 14:61), but quietly accepted the ascription.

In the face of such a statement, it is difficult to understand how hostile critics can suggest as they do that He never claimed deity for Himself. He always spoke and acted in a manner entirely consistent with such a claim.

Good Afternoon Mimi,
I am now out visiting. I got up around 10:10a.m. when my DH called me. I am still having my coffee. LOL. This is such a wonderful post. "PRAISE GOD" for everything HE does for us. I am so not worthy of anything HE does for me, but I do "PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME" for what HE does do for me and my Family. It's going to take me a while to get back into the swing of things. LOL. Staying up late and sleeping in is going to really make it rough come Monday morning. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Your post is awesome! Tonight I was telling my husband that it was the night of the Last Supper and the betrayal of Jesus by Judas. The anguish He felt that night as he knelt in the Garden must have been horrific. I thank Him for His sacrifice that we might live eternally with Him in heaven when our days on earth are through.

Easter blessings to you and yours.
Mary

Yes, and He certainly made an impression upon Pontius Pilate. How He suffered for us!

That's a fantastic quote, I love it. I haven't read Oswald Chambers for ages, but his quotes keep popping up here and there.

I'm so glad to read that Ladybug is safe and sound.

Hugs.

He held His peace.

It would mean much, much less if He had railed against them.
