Key of C

When I was a young girl I played the Violin.
Not very well I'm afraid,
so I always liked to play the easy songs.

In my spiritual immaturity,
I've tried to play all of life's music
in the key of C,
Keeping it easy and uncomplicated.

But life isn't like that at all;
And many of its difficult passages
require other key signatures,

Encompassing the flats of discouragement
And the sharps of higher aspiration.

As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word,
that ye may grow thereby (1 Peter 2:2)

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18)

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro,
and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the
sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in
wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow
up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.
Eph. 4:14-15)

I want to grow, Lord, and learn other scales.
I'm no longer afraid
to face the flats
or to seek the sharps.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Mimi, as a musician, you know I love that post. And I love the violin. Maybe that's why I used to want to write songs written in sharps. :) Another musician told me most songs are not written in those keys. And you manage to find the most beautiful pictures. Just lovely and thought provoking as usual ~

Mimi,

What an awesome post. I love the way you compare God's Word to music. You say, "I want to grow, Lord, and learn other scales.
I'm no longer afraid
to face the flats
or to seek the sharps.

I pray this as well. I need to seek out the flats and sharps in order to grow in HIM.

Thank you so much for posting this. It's just what I needed today and thank you also for your prayers.

Love and blessings,
Mary

What a wonderful message. I think so many times in life we want to take the easy way. However that limits growth and very often the soul becomes boring and out of tune! Thank you so much for reminding us that we need to grow, and be not afraid of the harder times in life.
