Were You There?

I Was There when they nailed Him to the tree

Jesus Alone on the Cross by James Tissot
Jesus Alone on the Cross

Crucifixion was a common means of execution in our day. It was chosen for the worst of criminals because of the slow agonizing death it brought to the victims.

In fact there were two others crucified at the same time as Jesus. I even heard Jesus say to one of these criminals..."Today thou shalt be with me in paradise."

such tender compassion......

and coming from one who was about to die.

Yes...... I was there when they nailed Him to the tree...

And I saw the Pain on the countenance of Jesus...

As each heavy nail spike was driven through his hands and feet.

Oh Mimi! How we all need to remember that day that Jesus so lovingly gave up His Life for us.

I sure hope none of us ever forget what Christ went through for us. There is a song that I absolutely love called "He Was Thinking Of Me When He Died". I'm not sure who sings it but that song has such a powerful message. I'll have to get the words and put them on my blog.

Thank you for this post as a reminder to never forget.

This was a beautiful post, as usual. And I love the music (I don't usually have my sound on). I just caught up - didn't know I was so far behind! The post about worry comes from where I live as well! And I am reading Esther right now - I absolutely love this series of stories - and the idea that she was made queen "for such a time as this."

There is a beautiful song written by the late Dottie Rambo called Glory in the Cross and it is a beautiful beautiful song.........

I boast not of works nor tell of good deeds
For naught have I done to merit His grace
All glory and praise shall rest upon Him
So willing to die in my place

Chorus:
I will glory in the cross, in the cross
Lest his suffering all be in vain
I will weep no more for the cross that He bore
I will glory in the cross

2
My trophies and crowns, my robes stained with sin
Were all that I had to lay at His feet
Unworthy to feast from the table of life
‘Till God made provision for me

Chorus:
I will glory in the cross, in the cross
Lest his suffering all be in vain
I will weep no more for the cross that He bore
I will glory in the cross
In the cross, in the cross
Be my glory ‘ever
I will weep no more for the cross that He bore
I will glory, I will glory, I will glory in the cross

I love the part that says...... I will weep no more for the cross that HE bore, but I will glory in the cross........

have a glorious weekend girl

Mimi, this is so touching. Yes, I was there--my sins were there. What a precious Savior we have.

Mimi, thanks for your participation in my series on the election. I loved what you said.

This is a great post and to think Christ gave so much for me, is so humbling. Christ has paid my debt!!
Thanks for your input on my last post it is good to know others understand these State surveys and how stressful they can be. We will get through it.

if we can just get it - that He paid the price, so we wouldn't have to ... what daily freedom it would give!

blessings on you!

I can never see a picture of Jesus on the cross without thinking of what He did for me. Mimi, thank you for finding my post on Sparrow's Heart. I saved it a few hours after I posted it. I just felt like whoever read it would be the ones God wanted to read it.
I am so thankful I met you through blogging. You have influenced me so much through your words. Thank you friend.

Would you please say a prayer for my sister Jamie? Her leg has been swelling since Friday.
