Looking Back......Looking Ahead

Fork in Road by Henryk T. Kaiser
Fork in Road

How easy it is to live with You, Oh Lord.
How easy to believe in You.
When my spirit is overwhelmed within me,
When even the keenest see no further than the night,
And know not what to do tomorrow,
You bestow on me the certitude
That You exist and are mindful of me,
That all the paths of righteousness are not barred.

As I ascend into the hill of earthly glory,
I turn back and gaze, astonished, on the road
That led me here beyond despair,
'Where I too may reflect your radiance upon mankind.

All that I may reflect, You shall accord me,
And appoint others where I shall fail.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Born in 1918, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn received his training in science. Drafted into the Soviet Red Army in 1941, he was arrested and sent to prison in Siberia in 1945 for criticizing Stalin in a letter to a friend. He became internationally known in 1962 for his novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich.
In 1970, he won the Nobel Prize for literature, but the Soviet government refused to allow him to accept it. Forced into exile four years later, he lived in seclusion in the United States. The collapse of the Soviet Union eventually made it possible for him to return to Russia in 1994.

I liked your post it was very interesting. The fork in the road is like life choices sometimes we have two choices to make, which way do we decided, but like the road we sometimes can turn back and make the right choice. I am wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year.

Mimi, what a wonderful post!
I love the new look of your blog! So pretty.
Have you ever seen the picture of the lighthouse with the keeper standing outside the door as a large wave is crashing all about?
I have seen this picture years ago and read the story behind it. I don't remember where I saw it, but it was amazing!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
Miriam :)
