Morning Prayer

Lord, Thou art the water of life,

Water Pitcher by Burgun
Water Pitcher

As this day begins, I am an empty pitcher before Thee.

Fill me, O Lord.

Thou art the light of the world.

As this day begins, I am an unlit candle.
Thy light can never shine through me to others unless
Thou dost shine in my heart.
Thou art the true light that lightest everyone
That cometh into the world.

Light me, O Lord.

Thou art the true vine.

Unless I dwell in Thee this day,
I can bring forth no fruit.
My leaves turn brown, shrivel, blow away and I die.

Let Thy life always flow into me, Thy branch, O Lord.
