When God Corrects You There is a Reason

"Happy is the person who God corrects!
Do not resent it when he rebukes you." (Job 5:17)

The discipline of God is not a popular subject for discussion.
Believing that God is Love, many people cannot envision Him rebuking or correcting those upon whom He showers His Love.

They ask why should He not give His children their own way: Why not give them what they want?

It is common knowledge that any child who has always had his own way, receiving everything for which he has asked, is spoiled and seldom reaches full mental and spiritual maturity.

Never to have known the rebuke and correction of a parent is to have been denied a creative and reassuring experience.

Do not rebel when your Heavenly Father rebukes you, but ascertain why He has cause to do so. He has a reason and when it is revealed to you, you will discover that you have a deeper experience of God and His Love, and a clearer understanding of His Ways.

It is impossible to grow spiritually without the guidance and correction of your Divine Father.

These periods of correction are, at times, difficult to understand for they follow no set pattern

It is imperative that you maintain and strengthen your love for God in life's most difficult and confusing moments.
Reading an old bible during a service by Randy Olson
In these circumstances hold on to the belief that God is trying to teach you a lesson which you cannot learn in any other way.

O Lord, in life's darkest moment may I be aware of Your Loving and Guiding hand.

Great Post Mimi. Very thought provoking, and one is able to make sense of the moments of rebuke from our Lord in your post. Makes perfect sense to me...

oh I have had and I am sure will continue to have my share of discipline from the Lord, I think it is part of the process. It is because HE loves me (us)

I don't like the pain of correction sometimes, but you know that is the best time to learn and grow. I'm so thankful that God cares enough to gently and lovingly disciplines us!

Lovely post. The sentiments expressed here are so true. Just as I didn't want to suffer the rebuke and chastisement of my parents, I don't want to experience it from my Heavenly Father either. But He knows that about me and loves me anyway.

Be blessed.
