When You are Discouraged

Morning Prayer
Most honorable Father, prayerfully I ask for a spirit of mindfulness today of all that you have done for me. Regardless of what I face today, Lord, I pray that I will keep my eyes, mind, and spirit uplifted and focused on your goodness. Lord, thank you for keeping me looking up.

Amen

REMAIN ENCOURAGED BY TAKING THE "DIS" OUT OF DISCOURAGE.

  • Seek comfort with God. Let Him handle your battles, troubles, and conflicts. Remember that in the midst of life's problems, He never forsook Paul and David, Peter and Abraham, Stephen and Moses. He will be just as faithful in your own life.

  • You may think you have tried your hardest, but until you call upon God, your burden will remain. Stop struggling with things that only the strength of God can overcome.

  • With every challenge, you have the opportunity to experience greater growth in your faith and your walk with God. God uses the most painful trials to keep you reliant and faithful. His love does not keep you from challenges, but sees you through them clearly.

  • Perhaps one of the reasons you have depression and discouragement is because you have not yielded everything totally to God.

  • Nothing can hold the Holy Spirit down--everything lifts Him up.

  • There is no problem too big for God to handle, but He can't help if you don't hand it over to Him.

Evening Prayer

Honorable Father in heaven, please help me to remember all the good that You have done for me and all that You promise for the future. Let me not forget that you are always with me and that I can always turn to you. Lord, help me realize that the devil is the oppressor and depressor and to always ask for deliverance.

Amen

Psalm 42:11

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 55:22
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

Storm on the Sea of Galilee by Rembrandt van Rijn
Storm on the Sea of Galilee

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. (Psalm 62:5-8)

I wonder if it could be said that we are not trying with all our might if we don't call upon God. Because, in a sense, holding back is a reserve that means we aren't laying it all on the line.

Which, makes me realize that I am holding back. The sermon by our guest speaker on Sunday was on pain. An interesting point the speaker made is that we often fail to ask to have the pain removed - truly ask. He described it as a deep and prolonged asking. He says we will never know the answer if we don't ask.

Momma ~ I needed this reminder this morning.

By the way, Verses 1 and 2 of Psalm 62 are two of my favorites.

Thank you, Mimi, I needed to read this. I have read those Psalms. Your words have encouraged me and what a wonderful reminder. We must rest in Jesus and know He has our best in mind and heart.
Hope you and your husband are doing well. You are in my prayers.

Thank you so much for these prayers. I needed to see them, for in my own life i am struggling with something close to my heart. I will continue taking it to God, and remember that he is near always.

Hugs Mimi

Thanks. I needed that encouragement tonight...getting tired of having my knee problems and not being able to lead the active life I was used to.
But as I read your post, I remembered again that God is in control of all our circumstances, and I don't need to feel disheartened.
Hugs.
